Polyhydroxyalkanoate production by Cupriavidus necator with inedible rice

Because of their lower environmental impact, biodegradable polymers such as polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) produced within cultured bacteria represent promising alternatives to petroleum-based plastics. PHA production in flasks yielded optimal results with a carbon-to-nitrogen ratio 22. The 5-L scale experimental revealed that when glucose was used the carbon source, Cupriavidus necator could produce 4.74 g/L 77.6% content microorganism 72 h after initiation experiment. When hydrolysis liquid from inedible rice highest concentration and were 4.82 68.6%, respectively, h. Using source reduced culture cost shortened time, without affecting structure during production. (by C. necator) results, may serve reference for applications involving other PHA-producing bacteria. Employing alternative sources might become means increasing productivity ensuring quality products future.
